Vietnamese Programs

The Vietnamese program is not age dependent. Regardless of how old when you join, you will always begin with the Mang Khăn program. The first program introduces some basic core principles of scouting. It’s very important for them to obtain the Mang Khăn as quickly as possible so that the soi con can join the “pack.” The program gets increasingly more difficult with more scouting skills that they have to learn along the way. It ends with the Mowgli and Shanti program. Below is the list of the Vietnamese program:

  • Khóa Vểnh Tai (Mang Khăn)
  • Khóa Giò Non (Tuyên Hứa)
  • Khóa 1 Sao
  • Khóa 2 Sao
  • Khóa Mowgli (boy)
  • Khóa Shanti (girl)

American Programs

The main purpose of these programs is for the parents to spend time with their child as they review the different requirements. Once you have taught your child and perform the activities, you may sign off the requirement. Again, this is a great opportunity for you to spend time with your kids learning things that are extremely helpful for them in life.

The American Program for Cub Scouts is school grade dependent. Regardless of the age, every boy must obtain the Bobcat badge before they can start any advancement trail.

The boy’s program is organized by the following school grades:

Webelos Activity Badge Requirements [click here]:

  • PHYSICAL: aquanaut, athlete, fitness, sportsman
  • MENTAL: artist, scholar, showman, traveler
  • COMMUNITY: citizen, communicator, family member, readyman
  • TECHNOLOGY: craftsman, engineer, handyman, scientist
  • OUTDOOR: forester, geologist, naturalist, outdoorsman

The American Program for Girl Scouts is slightly different. Rather than having different individual requirements, they have to go through different journeys. The girls will still have opportunities to earn patches along the way, but the main purpose is for them to get together and discuss their journey and share what they have learned.

The girl’s program is organized by the following school grades:

  • · Kindergarten thru 1st Grade – Daisies Journey [click here]
  • · 2nd through 3rd Grade – Brownies Journey [click here]
  • · 4th through 5th Grade – Juniors Journey [click here]

The Juniors (4th and 5th Graders) may earn their Bronze Award [click here].
This is the equivalence to the Arrow of Light Award for the boys.
